Welcome to Room 4 2014

We are just getting back into the swing of things here at Tawa Int.

This year the year 8s and I have moved from Room 14 to Room 4, we have been joined by a great bunch of Year 7s and we are all enjoying getting to know each other.

We are looking forward to using the new learning streets and getting into the library more as it is on our door step.

The start of the year is always a very reflective time for me as I settle back into school after the long holidays.

What do you find hard at the start of the school year?

What goals/resolutions do you have for 2014?

  1. Hi Room 4 from sunny Singapore!
I hope you had a fabulous holiday and are happy to be back at school. I'm sure you are going to have a fabulous year.

My year started in mid-January and I'm now half-way through the year already! Many countries in the northern hemisphere start school in August and finish in June.

What did you get up to in the holidays? I went to visit my family before I moved and played with my Mum's new puppy Milo. He's super cute!

  4. Hi Rm 4!

Hope you all had a great holiday! I know I did.

For one week of my holidays, my sister and I went up to Ashburton, Christchurch. Our Grandparents live up there, and we stayed with them. The first thing we did was go up to Tekapo!

We stayed in a house my Grandad had built in Tekapo. After we got settled, we went to all the new things at the hot springs. We even went on their 52.5 m inflatable slide, the Trippo! I also went on the summer louge, but my sister couldn't as her tailbone was sore. Since we stayed there for 4-5 days, we got lots of turns on everything. But at the end of each day, we always went in the hot pools.

What did you guys do in the Christmas holidays? I'd love to know!

    3. Hi Anika, Nina and Paris

Sounds like you girls had lovely holidays. I went to the Bay of Islands for a short holiday, it was lovely up there. We went out in a boat to the 'hole in the rock' and ate at lots of delicious restaurants with my parents-in-law.
For the rest of the holiday I was mostly around Plimmerton, on the beach, walking the dog, in my garden and building a deck.

  8. Josh- Hi
At the start of the school year it was hard to register everything in my head.
This year i am going to work harder and focus better.

    Henry- Hi
I find it hard at the start of the year to remember everything I learned last year. My goals for this year are reading more non-fiction books and focus better to learn more in class.

    What are your answers. Bye

  10. Hi,
Over the summer break i went to napier with my family and friends. We went to splash planet and had loads of fun! My favourite ride was the tube water-slide. I also went to the beach with my best friend, Liam. We got attacked by a horde of dogfish.(Sharks)
I find reading very hard because i get bored easily.
My goal is to work hard and, make lots of friends!

  11. hi Rm 4

During the holidays I went up to taupo for a month I also went to my second cousins wedding down in the catlins. My family on my mums side rented out an old hospital. The day after the wedding we went to the edge of the south island and swum with the dolphines. I had an awesome holiday!

At the start of the year I find it hard to remeber the year 7s names.

A goal i have set for this year is to keep possitive and have fun.

How did you celerbrate your chrismas hoildays?

You were so lucky to swim with dolphins! It is lovely down in the Catlins, sounds like a good trip.

Keeping positive and having fun - great goals, I think I might try to do the same.

It is hard to learn lots of new names isn't it? Have you met anyone from other classes in our syndicate yet?

Great goal, you have made a good start on this already :)

  13. Hello!
During the Holidays I went tramping with my Dad.
When I found out we were going for a trek to a hut in the middle of the bush I said "Yay"! which was NOT what I said afterward I ACTUALLY said "Ow ow ow,my feet HURT" but after I got home I admitted that it was,in fact fun.
I would recommend it WITH the proper gear

    1. Hi Lars

Great advice! Where did you go tramping? I have been starting to do some longer walks round Wellington with my dog, the last one we did was to the Pencarrow lighthouse, quite pretty, probably more fun to cycle though.

    2. Hello Miss Goldfinch The Track in my comment was the Orongorongo track - across a LOT of bush and crossing a river near the hut perhaps you've been?
